Labour Weekend brings the 34th running of the Greymouth Motorcycle Street Race, proudly sponsored by Mitre 10 Mega Greymouth. Join in the excitement as over 100 riders on a wide range of machines battle it out to be first over the line in their respective classes. There are 10 motorcycle racing classes each having 3 rounds of racing throughout the day. Practice starts around 8.30am, with racing from around 9:00am.
Unique to the Greymouth event are the Westland Kart Club demonstrations which are spread throughout the days racing. These guys put on an awesome display of fast sideways action that always pleases the crowd. Another unique attraction to our event is the Super Motard off road dirt section which sees the Motocross based machines running on the main sealed circuit with a deviation onto the off road dirt section. A technical section of berms, jumps and undulating surfaces provides a challenge for the riders.
If you are here on Saturday take the opportunity to check out the motorbike sprints on at the Greymouth Aerodrome from 9am on Saturday. Then meet the riders and check out the wide cross-section of machinery at bike check, from 1pm at Aratuna Freighters yard on Gresson Street.
Food stalls present and cafes open. You have access to the whole track throughout the day, including the pits area where you can get up close to the motorcycles and the riders. Great photo opportunities. Merchandise is onsite and available for purchase throughout he day.
Entry to the event is on the day via gate ticket sales.
$20 per adult, $5 child under 16 years, $40 family (2 Adult, 2 Child) and under 5's are free. Entry includes a free programme guide.
