Based in South Dunedin, MotoXtreme is Dunedin’s Kawasaki and Suzuki motorcycle dealership. Selling new and used bikes. MotoXtreme has a team of experience motorbike mechanics who can help in the workshop with frame straightening, engine reconditioning, welding, motorbike Warrant of Fitness checks and race set-up. MotoXtreme also offers finance through MTF and motorcycle insurance through Vero.
Kevin and Vanessa are passionate about motorbikes and bring over twenty years in the trade to MotoXtreme. Kevin Dougherty – Owner, Sales & Qualified Motorcycle Mechanic
After over twenty years in the motorcycle trade, Kevin decided to make his lifelong passion into his own business. In 2010 Kevin decided to open his own shop and with the help of his wife, Vanessa, MotoXtreme was founded.
Kevin has a passion for motorbikes riding in motocross, road racing, touring and commuting and on ATVs when hunting.
Kevin is a fully qualified motorcycle mechanic with experience in Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Harley Davidson.
When he’s not on a bike or at MotoXtreme, you’ll find Kevin spending time with his family, hunting and fishing or gold mining.
Vanessa Dougherty – Owner & Administration
Vanessa started MotoXtreme with her husband Kevin in 2010.
In her day-to-day, you’ll find Vanessa doing the administration side of things, from wages and tax to advertising, sales and promotions.
She really enjoys the variety of customers that they have come through the shop. People from all walks of life ride motorbikes and it’s been great to get to know a wide range of riders.
Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family particularly her two adult children; Madison and Dominic. She enjoys travelling, with a recent trip to Vietnam a highlight. It was amazing to see what they fit on a motorbike! On the weekends you will probably find her shopping, stitching, gardening or walking.
Mark Ayson – Parts & Accessories
Mark started his career in motorcycle parts in the late 90’s and has had an extensive and varied career across the automotive industry in parts and workshop roles, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He’s happy to be back in Dunedin, doing what he loves – motorcycle parts and accessories at MotoXtreme.
Mark has been riding since he was a youngster and in his mid-20s enjoyed racing in motocross. Motorbikes are a daily obsession for Mark and outside of work, you’ll probably find him either riding, watching or working on motorcycles.
John Bush – Qualified Motorcycle Mechanic
John started with MotoXtreme in January 2018 and brings a lifelong passion in motorcycles with him to his role as Motorcycle Mechanic. Along with five years’ experience in the industry, John is studying towards his New Zealand Certificate in Motorcycle Engineering.
John enjoys working on the engine side of things, making them good as new and preparing motorbikes for races or helping with restoration projects.
John has been riding for over 20 years, starting as a teen commuting and then moving into road racing, off-road riding and adventure touring. He now enjoys social riding and is part of the Otago Motorcycle Club.
Josh Goddard – Motorcycle Mechanic Trainee
Josh joined MotoXtreme in April 2018 after finishing high school. He was already familiar with Kevin and the team at MotoXtreme from his background in road bike racing.
Josh competes at a National level in track racing and has placed third in New Zealand twice and fourth. He races on a Yamaha R3 and first hopped on a motorbike at around age three. For Josh, motorbikes are a lifelong passion and something that is shared with his whole family, as his dad raced motorbikes from age 16.
Josh enjoys working at MotoXtreme as it’s such a friendly environment. He likes getting stuck in, getting his hands dirty and working away on bikes. He finds it really satisfying to find the issues and get them fixed, making something good as new.
Outside of work you’ll find Josh training, making his bike better and working towards his next race.
